Jake Bright is a writer, award winning author, and advisor on global business, politics, and technology. He contributes at TechCrunch and Crunchbase.
Bright has advised U.S. universities, media outlets, and Silicon Valley actors on Africa’s technology sector. He worked with TechCrunch and Facebook to spearhead the first Startup Battlefield Africa and serves as a judge on MIT’s Inclusive Innovation Challenge.
His book, The Next Africa, details the continent’s transformation story driven by business, investment, entrepreneurs, and IT and won the Axiom Best Business Book award.
Jake began his career in the U.S. Department of Commerce and on White House staff as a speechwriter and chief aide to senior international economic advisors. He then worked as a management associate and bank officer in international finance.
Bright earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and graduate degree from Columbia University.
He is an avid fan of music, motorcycles, and outdoor sports. Jake was born and raised in Northern Michigan.
